Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Sheetal Pallana’s family emigrated to escape the tyranny of Idi Amin and moved to Vancouver, BC, and later to Kirkland, Washington near Seattle, where he was raised. During these years, Sheetal experienced entrepreneurship first-hand through his father’s several business ventures and witnessed the highs and lows business owners can face if they do not have astute financial leadership from a qualified advisor. Sheetal moved to Vancouver, where he enrolled in business classes while working in hospitality, developing the skills to provide excellent service.
His early experiences inspired Sheetal to begin his career in financial services. In 1996 he became a bank teller and Financial Advisor at Canada Trust, which evolved into TD Canada Trust. Eager to work directly with people to help them achieve their wealth goals, by 1998 he had begun to assist clients with mutual funds and lending. After developing his advisory skills for seven years at TD Canada Trust, Sheetal became accredited as an Investment Advisor in 2003 and moved to Edward Jones, where he spent 12 years as a Financial Advisor and limited partner. His goal-oriented, disciplined approach earned him additional responsibility as a Performance Leader charged with training rookies and counselling senior colleagues to stay on track to attain their business goals.
In the summer of 2015, Sheetal joined Richardson GMP to bring his clients more bond expertise, a wider universe of investment options, better and more extensive equity research, and the sophisticated resources of the firm’s in-house Tax & Estate Planning team. With caring commitment to his clients’ wellbeing and a refreshing sense of humour that keeps financial discussions light and enjoyable, Sheetal advises entrepreneurs, from young start-ups to established business owners, providing multigenerational wealth management services through long-term relationships based on trust.
Sheetal and his wife Nellie Dhanji have a daughter named Camille. Sheetal is a member of the Calgary Petroleum Club and volunteers at The Mustard Seed, which helps meet the basic needs of shelter, food, clothing and acceptance for men and women experiencing poverty. In his downtime, Sheetal enjoys golfing, working out at the gym, and relaxing with friends and family.
