2016 was another great year for Ken MacNeal’s clients. Both his growth and balanced clients outperformed their benchmarks, his model growth portfolio was UP 23.6%. That warranted another celebration at the Calgary Tower for outperforming the market so well even in the good times. In January 2016, we had a celebration at the same place for going UP 9% in 2015 when markets fell. It’s uncommon to be versatile enough to outperform in both good markets and bad and we were fortunate to do so these two consecutive years.
Ken's investment success is due to a results based strategy built for today’s markets. By following academically proven principles, truly heeding expert opinion, diligently reading copious amounts of research and moving when the outlook changes, Ken undertakes to bring outstanding results for his clients.
A key is avoiding big stock market declines. Ken also celebrated at the Calgary Tower with his clients in 2000, 2008 and 2015 during those stock market crashes. The Globe & Mail reported on these events.
Ken has the honour of being chosen as one of ten finalists in the “2017 Portfolio Manager of the Year Award” from Wealth Professional Magazine.
Ken MacNeal has had a successful career in the investment industry. For 40 years, Ken has been a Vice President with a number of bank-owned investment dealers and is currently Director, Wealth Management & Portfolio Manager at Richardson GMP servicing high net worth clients.
Many people will remember Ken as one of the three Ken's on the weekly Calgary television program, "The Western Investors" which aired for six years. The show was popular for its valuable and timely advice, and its sense of camaraderie among the three hosts.
Ken is a student of the investment markets. He is part of a select group of advisors in Calgary with thorough knowledge and in-depth experience in the many historic stock market booms and busts.
Ken's experience in the Alberta oil boom and subsequent bust in the early 1980s led him to rigorously study the stock market and economic cycles. This research is a key reason why his clients benefitted from the tech boom at the turn of the century, without the pain of the bust that followed.
As a Portfolio Manager, Ken provides discretionary portfolio management and advisory services. Those who opt for portfolio management benefit from not being involved in the day-to-day investment decisions. As such, clients are left to devote more time to building their careers, taking care of their families or simply pursuing their goals.
We look forward to discussing your specific needs and how we can best help you.
