Tracey McGrath CFP
Investment Advisor

Tracey has more than 25 years of experience in the investment industry. Her career began at Investors Group in 1991, where she spent 15 years establishing her practice. In 2008, she teamed up with Patrick Tenpenny to form The McGrath Tenpenny Wealth Management Group.

Early in 2013, Tracey and Patrick joined Macquarie Private Wealth—predecessor to Richardson GMP—to further expand their investment and financial planning services and to enjoy the freedom to run their advisory practice in a way that benefits the families that have entrusted their financial well-being to them for years.

Acting as our clients’ chief financial advisor, Tracey discovers each family’s life and financial goals, then creates a customized and comprehensive plan for their unique situation. Tracey focuses on big-picture financial and estate planning and works closely with Patrick around portfolio construction. In addition to her Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, Tracey is also a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP).

Tracey’s primary role is steering the Financial Planning process which begins with the initial Discovery Meeting and ends with our clients knowing exactly what they need to do in order to meet the retirement goals they have set for themselves. The customized Plan is an active 12 to 20 page document that acts as the road map to financial independence. The Plan is revisited often to ensure our clients are on track and meeting their savings targets. We push our clients to aggressively save, as we know down the road, they will benefit from adhering to a disciplined investment approach.

Tracey is very active in her community and takes pride in her volunteer work. She is the vice chair of the charity Bracelet of Hope in support of the fight against HIV and Aids in Africa and is an active volunteer at her children’s school. In addition, Tracey is a member of the Guelph Rotary club. She currently lives in Guelph with her two boys, Curtis and Carter.

She enjoys her busy charity work, traveling and her boys’ competitive lacrosse teams.

Patrick Tenpenny BA, CFP
Investment Advisor

Patrick began his career with Investment Planning Counsel in 2002 where he spent six years building his practice. In 2008, he teamed up with Tracey McGrath to create a truly full-service practice. He holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and his life insurance† license.

Acting as their clients’ chief financial advisor, Patrick is responsible for conducting investment analysis, creating and presenting investment plans and portfolio construction and monitoring investment performance. Patrick, along with Rosi, manages the day-to-day operations of the practice.

In accordance with The McGrath Tenpenny Wealth Management Group*’s asset-based fee practice, Patrick’s role is to construct client portfolios that match each person’s risk tolerance and retirement objectives while striving to charge lower fees than a typical mutual fund based portfolio. As a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Patrick understands that risk management is as important as investment returns when managing a client’s investments.

When working with new clients, Patrick creates an Investment Plan that is in line with a client’s retirement goals and risk tolerance. The Investment Plan analyses a new client’s current holdings and then suggests the appropriate strategy for that person’s stage in life. Within the Plan, past rates of return, current yield and geographical asset mix are all illustrated along with the exact fees that a client will pay. It is our goal to be completely transparent and open with our clients around the fees they pay.

Originally from Toronto and a graduate of York University, Patrick currently lives in Mississauga with his wife Terry, daughter Victoria and son Matthew. He keeps busy with his young children’s many activities and enjoys coaching hockey, woodworking and spending time at their cottage in eastern Ontario.

Rosi Favaro
Associate, Business Development

Rosi began her career with the Royal Bank in 1987. In 1998 she moved to the Wealth Management side with CIBC Wood Gundy before moving to Macquarie in 2005. After playing a pivotal role in helping the McGrath Tenpenny Group* transition to Macquarie/Richardson GMP in early 2013, Rosi joined the Team as a full-time Associate in July 2014. Entrusted with overseeing the general operations of the Team, Rosi also works closely with Patrick in the area of practice management and supports Tracey in the area of Financial Planning and Insurance. Rosi lives in Burlington with her daughter Amanda and son Justin. In her spare time she enjoys going to the gym, travelling, cooking and working with various charities.
