An intrepid investor, Michael’s investment career spans the last two plus decades working for some of the most prestigious asset management firms in the world. Michael is an expert contributor to the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Bloomberg’s Market Sense Program, CNBC, BNN. He is a guest speaker at the Wharton Executive Education Program, has been an invited presenter at the Berskshire Hathaway annual meeting, among many other industry conferences. His academic work has been published in top academic journals such as the CFA Institute, EDHEC Risk Institute and leading think tanks like the Inter American Dialogue. Private Asset Management named him as one of the Best Money Managers for Long-Term Performance.

Michael is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer at Capital Innovations, LLC. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the firm’s investment process and is focused on the strategic direction of the firm. Recognized for his expertise, he is frequently asked to speak on topics such as investment policy, portfolio management, and the risk characteristics of Real Asset investing. Prior to founding Capital Innovations, he was a Vice President at Alliance Bernstein Institutional where he worked with some of the world’s largest corporate defined benefit plans. Michael is a founding member of the Steering Committee for the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment. The Steering Committee, together with the United Nations Secretariat, bears the ultimate responsibility for the Infrastructure Work Stream, related outputs, and regular reporting to the PRI Advisory Council.
