My vast depth of knowledge of the securities industry covers everything from active portfolio management, public venture capital markets, industry spokesperson, Chairman of TSX Venture Exchange, Local and National Committees, Ontario Securities Commission Committee Member, guest speaker on numerous occasions for Canadian Stock Exchanges, Provincial Securities Commissions, and regulatory bodies in the USA. I have also guest lectured many times at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business and also spoke at the University of Texas School of Law. I have helped guide over 100 companies in the process of going public. I am a Portfolio Manager and I rigorously screen large cap investments from both the top down and bottom up seeking companies with hidden values for my clients to invest in.
My experience is far-reaching: since 1994 I have advised and managed private and institutional portfolios and structured financing for junior oil and gas companies, and I am past Chair and Member at Large of the University of Calgary Investment Committee.
My start in investing came when my father’s broker at Charlton Securities agreed to mentor me. Next, I worked with First Marathon and Research Capital as an advisor before being recruited to Yorkton Securities, a predecessor firm to Richardson GMP. I moved to Wolverton Securities and advised individual and institutional investors mainly on energy deals, as National Sales Manager I developed their private client group.
I hold my BA in Political Science from the University of Calgary, am a past member of the University’s Board of Governors and still sit on the Alumni Association Board, and advise the Entrepreneurship Program at Mount Royal University’s Bissett School of Business. I have also been active in the Rotary Club of Calgary Olympic since 1994; and have been President twice.
