Awarded Canadian Advisor of the Year, 2019 at the Wealth Professional Awards, Alexandra has also been named the top female investment advisor in Canada on Wealth Professional’s 2019 Top 50 Advisors list. She is a multi-award-winning, goal-based wealth professional with an unsurpassed work ethic. Her specialty is long-term investing and comprehensive, tax-smart wealth management strategies for successful mining executives, business owners, and wealthy families. Acting as an integrated life and wealth coach for her clients, Alexandra provides hyper-personalized advice on all facets of financial well-being.

After graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Arts & Business, Major in Legal Studies from the University of Waterloo and co-op placements at Franklin Templeton Investments, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Research in Motion (now Blackberry), and Microsoft, Alexandra joined The Horwood Team at Richardson GMP in 2010. She quickly rose to become the youngest Director, Wealth Management, Portfolio Manager and launched Alexandra Horwood & Partners in 2015. She is a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) and a Life Insurance Agent.

Alexandra is married to Andrew James, Director, Credit Trading at TD Securities. Beyond the firm, Alexandra likes to cook, exercise, read, and spend time with her husband, her son Mason, and daughter Sydney.

Kyle Johnson CFP®, CIM®
Portfolio Manager, Associate Investment Advisor

Often referred to as Alexandra Horwood & Partners’ Chief Operations Officer (COO) or Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Kyle Johnson provides due diligence on investments and maintains close relationships with core investment management teams. His apt approach to tax-smart strategies, trading, wire transfers, building and monitoring model portfolios, wealth plans, retirement projections and detailed investment analysis makes him a critical part of the team. 

Prior to joining the Horwood Team in 2012, Kyle worked in account management and investing at a Canadian chartered bank for four years. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from York University and is a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP®).

In his spare time, Kyle enjoys playing pétanque, golfing and travelling.

Sharbari Chakraborty

Sharbari Chakraborty’s behind-the-scenes support is key to the inner workings of Alexandra Horwood & Partners. She’s prompt and maintains unparalleled service excellence when liaising with both clients and advisors. Prior to joining The Horwood Team in 2012, Sharbari worked in the Securities Department of Operations at Richardson GMP & Richardson Partners Financial. 

When she’s not spending time with her husband Manoj and their daughter Deshna, Sharbari enjoys cooking, travelling, music and reading.

Aneesha Prihar

Since joining Alexandra Horwood & Partners in June 2018, Aneesha Prihar has become an invaluable resource for streamlining client service and supporting the team. Her passion for the investment industry was piqued by summer internships at GMP Securities and Epic Capital Management. She followed that by taking a role in Richardson GMP’s compliance department. 

Aneesha has a Bachelor of Business Administration, concentration in Finance from Wilfrid Laurier University. She also studied abroad at France’s Neoma Business School. She is currently working towards obtaining her CFA designation.

Aneesha enjoys kickboxing and yoga, as well as baking and travelling. 

Jason Middleton

Individual Insurance Consultant

Jason has a well-rounded knowledge of the Insurance industry having worked at all levels of the business. He has worked at the manufacturer level, at the distributor level and, most importantly, as an Independent Insurance Broker and business owner.

Jason’s financial and accounting backgrounds allow him to take a comprehensive approach to advanced Estate and Insurance planning for clients. His ‘educate first’ approach resonates well with clients, who feel that his solution-based recommendations are tailored to their individual needs.

Jason earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with Honors in Accounting and Corporate Finance in 1999 from the University of New Brunswick. He began working on his CA with Deloitte and Touche in 2001 after taking a sabbatical to train and try out for the Canadian Olympic Swim Team. Upon returning to the work force Jason completed the CSC and earned his CFP designation in 2003.

Sylvia Azoulay, LL.B., TEP

Vice President, Tax & Estate Planning

Sylvia works closely with Investment Advisors and their clients to explore and identify issues that address clients’ overall wealth planning needs. She helps clients formulate objectives, understand issues and strategies and facilitates implementation of their goals. Sylvia understands the sensitive issues relating to family dynamics and wealth transfer.

Sylvia is an estate planning lawyer with many years of experience. Prior to joining Richardson GMP, she was a principal in her own strategic wealth planning firm and also spent many years in the financial industry dealing with wealth planning solutions for high net worth clients.

Sylvia has been an instructor at Humber College School of Business and at the Bar Admission course at the Law Society of Upper Canada. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Estate Planning Council of Toronto. She is a seasoned presenter on topics of importance to high net worth families.


Sean Hsu CPA (New Hampshire), MTax

Tax Specialist, Tax & Estate Planning

Based in our Toronto office, Sean provides his expertise to Investment Advisors and their clients to develop tax and financial planning strategies, and to deliver integrated solutions addressing their unique needs.

Sean has significant experience in Canadian and U.S. income tax planning and compliance for high net worth individuals, with a focus on integrated cross-border wealth, estate and trust matters. Before joining Richardson GMP, Sean was at a national accounting firm as a manager in the firm’s private client tax group, focusing on Canadian and U.S. tax. Sean has authored and contributed to several articles for BorderCrossings, a Thomson Reuters publication with insightful commentary on cross-border issues faced by Canadians.

Sean holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto, a Master of Taxation from the University of Waterloo, and is a U.S. Certified Public Accountant with the New Hampshire Board of Accountancy.
